On
January 9, 2017, the Court of Cassation in Bahrain upheld the death penalty of
three young citizens; Ali AbdulShahid Singace, Sami Mirza Mushaima and Abbas
Jamil Tahir Muhammad Samee on the background of bombing in AlDaih village that
led to the death of three security men on March 3, 2014 as the authority
claims. The victims’ families are
concerned of the implementation of the death penalty, especially after calling
them today, January 14 to visit all the three sentences young men during
weekend and unplanned visit
.
Bahrain
Human Rights Society believes in the right to life and condemns murders and it
believes that the death penalty is a harsh punishment intended to only take
revenge. Accordingly, BHRS appeals His
Majesty, King of Bahrain not to ratify the sentences; it also appeals your
esteemed organization to call upon the Bahraini government to stop the
implementation of the death penalty of the three convicts and urge it to
abandon the decision
.
